Massachusetts, The Bay State

 State Motto:  “By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty.” (Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem in Latin).


One of the original 13 states, Massachusetts joined the Union when it became the sixth state to ratify the new constitution on February 6, 1788. 



The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile red-brick walking trail.  It has 16 nationally significant historic sites, including Boston's oldest building still in existence.  Paul Revere purchased it in 1770 when he was 35 years old 




The American Textile History Museum tells America’s story through the art, history, and science of textiles. The Museum offers textile classes! 







The Boston cream donut was designated the official donut of Massachusetts in 2003 (Boston cream pie was adopted as the state desert in 1996).
